Exhibition Design UH Gallery 7th Feb 2013
Students from the Interior Architecture and Design programme designed the KEYBOARD wall feature, PIXEL ARROWS and the CARDBOARD spatial design elements throughout the gallery space for the Interactive Media and Screen Cultures student exhibition February 2013.
This short and collaborative group project is part of
the level 5 / year 2 DESIGN STUDIO module.

"Whilst repeatedly walking around the gallery space we decided that a simple
installation was required as we did not want to distract the viewer from the
essence of the exhibition. We designed a computer keyboard approximately 6m x 2m, with each key hand cut (suggesting the human element) from foam board and outlined in black
tape, making the installation more prominent. Each key was raised, by making
a further hidden mount and then individually fixed them onto the wall using
a Vectorworks plan as our guide. It took many hands many hours but we were
very satisfied with this installation and the way in which it worked so well
with the other installations and exhibits".
Thank you, Thaarani for sharing your photos.

Level 5 – Study Week
task 14-18 January:
During the week of 14th-18th January 2013, you are
required to carry out individual preparatory research – for the first design
studio project in Semester B, 5CTA1037. You will be designing an exhibition for
the Multimedia and Screen Cultures students – with a public exhibition first
week in February. Therefore you may place some focus on Multimedia and Screen
based exhibitions. Your job will be to design the overall ‘journey’ through the
exhibition. GROUP PROJECT BRIEF WILL BE SET TUESDAY 22nd January.
Research and visit
exhibitions – look particularly closely at the design of a range of
exhibitions;
- overall design solutions
and approach (floor plan, design, application)
- type of exhibition
(digital, fine art, art, education, business, craft)
- materials, techniques – and
technologies (interactivity, user friendly, visual – graphics/branding
- circulation – how is the
visitor guided through the space? Is this effective?
- visitor experience
- target audience
Compile a folder
and bring to studio Tuesday 22nd January 2013.
